SOLUTIONS
2.1
Five identical symbols are shown on the side of each Sermo model - S, E, R, M and O. We know the colour of each wire the Multiprobe Reader will be attached to, and can therefore assign the letters in BLACK to the symbols that appear next to the uppermost prong in fig. iv, GREY to the symbols in the centre and BLUE to the symbols at the bottom. This gives enough letters to begin extrapolating the others from the cipher in fig. v. Once fully translated, it reads:
“The blue wire is live at five volts. The current follows the repeating pattern cross, circle, line…”
2.2
The correct path is show below - cross-referencing the cross symbol with 8 moves on the table in fig. vii gives the solution VI-C.
2.3
Going to position VI-C gives the key “II-A” on the upper keyboard and at its equivalent position on the lower keyboard, the cipher symbol for the letter “T”. Going to position II-A on the upper keyboard then gives us the key “I-A” and the cipher symbol for “H” on the lower keyboard and so on. Continue in this way until you hit a looping letter to get the solution:
“THE FOUR SPOTS”
