SOLUTIONS

The bold text on this page refers to a puzzle embedded on the inside front cover; the phrase ‘say their name out loud’ is underlined, next to the name of the Regional Supervisor. When said out loud, “Theresa Quay” is phonetically equivalent to “trees are key” - coupled with the circled word ‘cover’, you can extrapolate that the puzzle is asking you to look at the front cover, where a number of icons appear in small hexes. In two of these hexes there are trees and, beside them, symbols - the patches with these symbols are the ones to select.

The correct configuration of tiles is shown below. Follow the wire from each symbol, through the grid and back out again to find its associated numerical value; you will need all of these values to complete the final puzzle in this section.

The complete CAPTCHA is shown below, as well as the total number of instances of each symbol. Multiply the values of each symbol (found on the previous challenge) by its number of instances to get a series of totals; add the totals together for the black symbols to get the answer 2,085 and the red symbols to get the answer 161,591,420. Once punctuated by the dots in fig. v, the black numbers can be translated into a three letter word, and the red letters into a five letter word:

“THE POINT”
