Cryptogram Puzzle Post is an ongoing puzzle story about a young witch called Anna, exploring the mysteries of a world not unlike our own. The first issue of the series was released in March 2017 and there have been 32 more issues since, as well as live events, cross-collaborations, prints, merchandise, sculptures, photography and other creative ephemera set in the same universe.

In its original format, each issue of CPP consisted of an illustrated envelope, containing a series of loose pages that form a stand-alone chapter in Anna’s ongoing story. You begin by reading the first page, studying the illustration and puzzling out the right shard of information to help you solve the next page, and so on until you reach the final answer. The entire back catalogue of the original incarnation has now been digitised and is available to download in PDF format from the online store. Or try the first three for free here.

The back issues from the series are no longer in print but a series reboot has begun, exclusively over on the Patreon page, as of Halloween 2024. This update to the original series is teeming with new story, characters, world building, puzzles and more, making it a perfect jumping-on point for new readers as well as an exciting and immersive way to revisit Anna's world for those who were on board for the 2017 iteration.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can I subscribe?
The series is available exclusively via the Patreon page. For digital downloads of past issues, check out the Big Cartel.

Can I jump in anywhere?
Yes, each chapter is designed as a stand-alone puzzle experience, meaning you don’t need to read them in any particular order or commit to reading more than one. That being said, a story does run through all of the issues, so the more you read, the bigger the picture becomes!

Is Cryptogram Puzzle Post suitable for children and young people?
None of the issues contain nudity or strong language but elements of violence and folk horror are common. The puzzles and language may prove difficult for younger readers to understand but group-solving with someone older is encouraged! Themes of witchcraft, alchemy and the use/worship of arcane and occult symbols is prevalent throughout the project, which may be unsuitable or inappropriate to people of particular faiths or beliefs.
